May 12 update… We are so pleased to announced that Simba has been been adopted! He is already well loved.

April 28 update… Remember me? I’m Simba! I am all better now and ready to find my furever home. I am very thankful for the wonderful Vet at Westlock and SCARS for helping me through so I can live a happy, healthy, long life. I love life! I am a very happy (smart) pup my foster home tells me. I know that when I sit and look straight into their souls they will give me all the treats and food! Humans are my favourite, I like to get as close as possible to them, I don’t not believe in physical distancing. I like to be beside the humans, on the laps of the humans, I even like when they pick me up!

I am learning to play with toys, I am learning to play with my foster brother and I am learning about walks. I have a great sniffer and like to learn! Speaking of learning, I do need to learn some rules for my own safety.. Did you know that not everything that falls on to the floor is safe for a pup like me to eat? I am very fast (my foster mom says too fast) and I like to eat anything & everything that falls on the floor. This skill probably helped me survive before I came to SCARS, but now I guess we are working on that ‘to keep me safe’ she says. Also I just love people so much, and I get so excited to sniff and lick them, but I need to learn about keeping my puppy teeth away from their skin – I guess they can hurt? So maybe a house with older children would be better for me because I am still learning these manners! Okay last thing, as I have been healing up I haven’t done many ‘outings.’ I feel safe and comfortable in my Foster Home but I will need some help learning about going new places and hearing new sounds – I think that’s pretty normal for a pup of my age! So if you are interested in meeting me, snuggling me, and calling me yours, can you promise to help me socialize and experience ‘life’ in a positive way? April 4, 2022 update.. Urgent care update for SIMBA; the parvo puppy at Westlock Vet. Simba has been at Westlock Vet for 7 days being treated for parvo. Parvo is a horrible highly contagious virus especially for puppies! Simba has been fighting hard. When he arrived he was already malnourished and full of parasites so fighting a deadly virus in addition is difficult. He is anemic from all the bloody diarrhea. Our last resort is a blood transfusion in hopes it gives him the boost he desperately needs to continue fighting.

A big part of rescue is speed of rescue. If a request comes in, our intake team works at all hours of the day. Speed of being able to pick up the animals in a timely manner & speed of having space at foster homes. Also, speed of noticing when something is wrong. Meet Simba. The foster home noticed right away that Simba wasn’t feeling 100% and he is now at Westlock Vet fighting from Parvo. We are so thankful for everyone that was able to participate in him getting to Westlock Veterinary Center. ❤️❤️
Please keep him in your thoughts! www.scarscare.ca/donate
