Meet Hellena, a very very sweet shy girl. When she first arrived she was very thin. We quickly noticed that was not her only problem. She was not walking normally, so we had her x rayed. Her pelvis is broken and she requires FHO surgery. 🤕🤕
An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip by removing the head and neck of the femur (the long leg bone or thighbone). We see this kind of trauma on a regular basis and though she is doing ok it is painful and does need to be fixed.
She goes in for surgery on December 14 to have it repaired. Surgeries like this are common. We are constantly in and out of consult appointments with specialists dealing with various injuries, we are so thankful for the vets that can do these amazing surgeries.
💵💵These are surgeries are costly but necessary if we are to provide a comfortable and quality life for many of these deserving animals.💵💵
