March 29 SCARS update… ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
🐶Meet William. A new intake who was a stray. He is emaciated & dehydrated. They can’t even find a vein to get fluids. He is negative for parvo. His gums are gray/white. They think he is so loaded with worms that they’ve literally sucked too much blood out. His stool is black and bloody. He is only 12 weeks old.
🐶Meet Clem. Thought to be 4 to 4.5 months old. He came to us with a large lump & eyes swollen shut. He was so scared at first, he would just run off and hide. We brought him into the vet and a sample was taken from the head lump. It was a hematoma. A soft, blood filled bump. It was as a result of a hit to the head vet determined. 😞 How did he suffer such a severe blow? We won’t ever know. The blood will reabsorb and he received a long-term antibiotic injection to cover the bacteria that often occurs with a hematoma. Already the swelling is reduced.
The next emergencies are an injured cat and dog – both kicked by a horse. An emergency driver took them to the Westlock veterinary clinic.
