Hello. I'm Layla. I am a devoted mom. I've had a hard life. I was alone for a long time having to live by my wits. I didn't even have a name. SCARS rescued me and my week old puppies after we had been abandoned. Despite all the bad stuff in my life, I trusted the nice lady from SCARS when she retrieved my puppies from under the cold trailer where we had taken shelter and jumped into her vehicle to stay with them. I'm happy to see foster mom when she brings food and am glad my puppies have had a warm place to grow up. I let her pet me and don't mind when she plays with my puppies. I don't like leashes and don't like to be confined. Foster mom has been working on this. I am getting better.
I've been in the house, and am clean in the house. I do not like cats! I am a hunter with a strong prey drive. My dream forever home would be with adults who can spend a lot of time with me. Left alone I will try to escape. I'm very intelligent and very independent. I want to trust, but remain cautious. I get on well with other dogs and could be happy with a confident companion.
