Second Chance Animal Rescue Society is excited to announce we have leased a new facility in Morinville that will serve as a rescue centre for companion animals. To officially open to animal intake, we are looking for the public’s help. This new rescue centre will save lives by allowing us to accommodate the growing number of urgent requests for animal intake.

This 3,800 square foot facility with adjacent outdoor space provides us with more options to help animals. It provides a place where the public can meet adoptable animals by appointment, a quiet place for animals to recover from surgeries, and new opportunities for volunteers to interact with animals. A highlight of the centre is that it will save the lives of pets who need urgent placement but have special needs, such as pets that are pregnant or already have litters. Pets like Arianna who gave birth to her kittens shortly after coming into our care or Bailey who came into care with her puppies.

What we need for the rescue centre

Previously used as a boarding facility, the centre is already set up for animal housing but needs minor renovations before we can begin using it. Our goal is to raise $30,000 for the purchase of:

  • outdoor kennel fencing for dogs
  • veterinary cages to house cats
  • a commercial-quality clothes washer
  • sea cans to store supplies
  • animal surveillance system
  • miscellaneous items for interior cosmetic updates

We have started working on interior renovations and hope to be ready for animal intake by August 1, but we may need to extend that date.

We invite our caring supporters to donate to our Rescue Centre Renovations Fund. All donations of $3 or more will receive a tax receipt through Canada Helps. Together, we can save more lives and reduce pet over population while completing families through pet adoption!

We also have a fun opportunity to feature your pet’s cute face inside an indoor dog kennel! Learn more here!
