SCARS Annual General Meeting
April 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm MDT
Join us for the SCARS Annual General Meeting!
Date: Saturday, April 23, 2022
Time: 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time
Location: Kenilworth Community League Hall, 7104 – 87 Avenue, Edmonton AB T6B 3C2
Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) will be conducting the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 23, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. This will be an in-person event subject to the Alberta public health measures and business/gathering restrictions in effect at the time of the meeting.
In addition to the presentation of the 2021 financial statements, along with Committee reports, SCARS membership will be voting for expiring and vacant Board positions.
1) Chair, two-year remaining term
2) Three Directors-at-Large, three-year positions
Given the uncertainty of business/gathering restrictions in Alberta, and in the unlikely event of a change in venue format to virtual if required, the following nomination process will be implemented.
Election nominations for expiring and/or vacant board positions will be accepted effective March 3, 2022 and must be submitted to the Secretary via email at email@example.com or mailed to Second Chance Animal Rescue Society, Box 3045, Athabasca, AB T9S 2B9 and received no later than March 23rd, 2022. A package of nominees and applicable material will be provided to members at the meeting. To manage the process, the ability to receive “nominations from the floor” will not be practical.
All nomination submissions must include a brief biography, including a statement of what the nominee will bring to the board and society. Each nominee, to be elected to the Board, must meet all the following qualifications:
a) be a member in good standing for a period of at least 30 days prior to the Annual General Meeting;
b) has, on or before the date of election to the Board, achieved the age of majority specified by the Province of Alberta, currently eighteen years of age; and
c) is not an employee of the Society.
Elected Board Members must agree to, adhere to, and comply with, the SCARS Board and Volunteer policies.
Any natural person may become a Member by either:
a) applying to the Secretary, and paying the designated membership fee in effect from time to time; currently $25.00 or,
b) having been appointed by the Board as an Honourary Life Member.
To vote, an individual must be a member in good standing “for at least 30 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.” To become a member, go to www.scarscare.ca/become-a-member.
SCARS will continue to monitor local COVID-19 trends and meet or exceed protocols mandated by local governments. By attending this event, you agree to abide by the health and safety measures in effect at the time of the event, which may include, but are not limited to, wearing masks, providing proof of vaccination status and/or providing proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
