SCARS is doing its part to limit the spread of COVID-19 to protect the public and our volunteers. The good news is that we are still able to complete adoptions.

Rescue has not slowed down for us! In March we had 82 new intakes and we completed 16 Spay-Neuter-Returns through our SNR program. April has been quite a busy month with lots of new intakes, and many new mommas and babies! COVID-19 has had an impact on how we conduct the adoption process. We are doing our part to limit the spread of COVID-19 to protect the public and our volunteers. However, so far practicing social distancing measures, we have seen many successful adoptions! Here is what you should know:

When you apply to adopt, we will work with you to protect your health and that of our volunteers. For example, if you are hoping to adopt a cat, we can arrange for a virtual meet-and-greet! For dogs, we make sure to arrange a meet-and-greet outside in a space space where all individuals can practice proper social distancing and sanitation methods.  If you have any questions or concerns about our adoption processes during COVID-19, please don’t hesitate to contact us at

We have had to cancel many of our fundraising events! Please check our website and social media channels for the status of events planned for future dates. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our plans as events unfold. Please consider becoming a monthly donor, or providing a small increase in your regular gift, to help us compensate for the lost revenue from our events! The animals are still counting on us, and we plan to be there for them with your invaluable support! CLICK HERE TO DONATE
